    Message to both of you
Please could you tell your member(s) to refrain from pointing fingers at me regarding this issue. I do have friends on the site who have my best interests at heart.

As for teh incident that happened over a year ago, i was the one personally attacked and not the other member.

The reason i have no applied again is becuase i choose to distance myself from the community and both sites. What would you like me to tell you RM? hmmm that i cam not allowed to be removed from sites at my request? CM havent questioned as to why i wanted to be removed as they respect my personal choice and dont question it? My reason for not going back are my own and actually none of your business.

To clear up the "underlying politics" meantioned on your site......... To reiterate... i am not a member of either site, i am not associated with of the owners of said sites. My post is based on my experience. Remember i am a big girl who can speak for myself.

KinxtonTown was established and a huge political storm broke out within the community - if you remember well, all F/facilitators and M/moderators were or had been banned from collarme , the owner of which you were very friendly with.

The reason you were warned (as were two other parties on the site) was that you became increasingly personal against one or two members, who were also warned because they became increasingly personal towards you (fyi, they are both still members). Some of those posts are still available on the site and would be easy to place here so as to put your and my comments into perspective.

You then asked to be deleted from the site - which the owners did. Your opinions are, thus, based on events which occured more than a year ago - seeing as you have not applied for membership since......or is there something you want to tell us?

Of course the site will take action against members who 'get out of hand'. The site cannot be allowed to degenerate into a free-for-all! But unlike collarme, KT has yet to ban a member.

Even though the original review was posted anonymously (except for an online name and gmail address), it has been debated on the site and may yet lead to some changes. As I have said before, we do not proclaim to know everything and we are always eager to learn. Whether this learning comes from constructive criticism or from making mistakes. Suffice it to say that quite a few new members have joined after reading the article and, dare I say, are finding quite the opposite reaction to what they may have been expecting. If the original poster ('reviewer') had any scruples at all, he/she would make their identities known to site M/management - until that time I see this review as an attempted hatchet job.

You forget that E/everybody within the lifestyle knows of the perception of 'threat' collarme holds of KT and over time, actions speak louder than words. If KT is such an 'awful place', why are there so many communal members? And why do so many of these communal members attend functions held by both sites?

    PixelBabie's " Fact"
What control and measures are given to prevent this?

PixelBabie, in the same way that you were warned, anyone and everyone on KinxtonTown will be warned should their behaviour contravene the Site Rules. Unfortunately, W/we cannot warn offenders of the person who was offended/attacked is not willing to stand up and report the issue.

    Fact
Tungsten, my comments are basd on fact.

    1. I was attacked for a comment i replied to on a forum. No person was personally attacked or verbally abused by me.
    2. Freya called me askgn me not to leave the site, when i explianed that i did not appreciae being treated the way i was, she retracted my "warning" and apologised
    3. There are many members who dont want to post responses to someposts becuase they get verbally slandered and attacked by members and Moderators. What control and measures are given to prevent this?

Again, this is my own opinion. I am not associated with eithr sites in any way or form. I am entitled to my opinion and i will express my opinion.

PixelBabie - you know that 3/4 of what you have typed above is subjective and blatantly untrue.

You were warned on KinxtonTown for verbally abusing a fellow member on an issue that you brought from collarme.co.za, an issue i might add that, strictly speaking, had nothing to do with you other than your friendship with the other party concerned.

You also know that i personally called you and asked you to reconsider your first resignation from KinxtonTown as W/we felt that you were a hugely valuable member of the community. Your second resignation came as a result (and i quote) of "the new man in your life requiring that you not be a member of KinxtonTown".

You are also aware that all KinxtonTown members agree to Gite Rules EVERYTIME they log in and that agreement was the basis of your warning. The rules are:

    SITE RULES

You must be over 18 years of age,
Respect will be shown at all times to all people,
No harassment of any type will be tolerated by anyone,
Anyone suspected of harassment of any type will be brought to answer to the community and the person that claims,
No abuse of any kind will be tolerated - this includes hate speech and slander,
Anyone suspected of abuse of any type will be brought to answer to the community and the person that claims,
This site is not a sexual hunting ground - inappropriate behaviour will be treated as abuse and actioned accordingly.

i believe that you are looking to start a fight. W/we (KinxtonTown F/facilitators and M/moderators) will not be drawn in.

I can speak from experience on both sites, of which I am not a member of either site any longer, but I have to agree with the statement of new people not being welcomed. When I joined I didn’t make it a secret as to who I was and you all new who I was. Then every time I made a comment I was attacked for what I said and then received a warning from the site owners. I cannot imagine how the new people feel because it most certainly isn’t welcoming. You need to be part of the “clique” or you are not going to have any comment accepted no matter what it is. I think you just need to realise that a lot of these people are joining because they are curious and they want to learn more. The minute you go on the attack or ignore them they are going to run for the hills and well they are going to bad mouth the entire community.
Numbers and activity on the site or sites has nothing to do with the way you are treated. I don’t care whether there are 30% active as long as they respect EVERY person who is a member no matter who they are. There are members on your site who don’t want to pass comments in fear of being attacked, so they read and move on and don’t give their input no matter how valuable or invaluable it might be.
When you received a write up like this, take notice of what is being said don’t go on the attack try and change how people are treated and welcomed to your site.
Oh and for the record and before I get attacked, I am speaking for myself and not on behalf of any other person or site. I am not a member on either sites and I am not associated with any members of either site.

    Moderator
I am a Moderator on KT and am proud to be able to answer all of the points raised in the article:

    1. The number of members corresponds very well to almost any other local (to SA) BDSM groupings - there is one obvious exception in collarme. I recently posted a thread on exactly this subject. Allow me to quote from that thread:
    "KinxtonTown - members 261 active
KinxtonTown Facebook group - 35 members (last post on the discussion board: March 30, 2009)
    Collarme - members 11224
Kinky in South Africa (Collarme Facebook Group) - members 425 (last post on the discussion board: January 28, 2009)
The joys of BDSM,bondage, discipline ,kinks....South Africa (Facebook) - members 88 (last post on the discussion board: April 4, 2007)
Femdom Bdsm in South Africa (Facebook) - members 123 (last post on the discussion board: March 28, 2008)
BDSM South Africa (Facebook) - members 198 (last post on the discussion board: June 19, 2007)". These were the figures at the time of posting

I also regard KT membership to be significantly active in that 25% of members are online daily and 100% are active within a 3 month period (this figure is discussed below)

KT membership is also an audited membership - based on a 3 month acivity basis - there is a list of inactive members whose profiles have been suspended or deleted after a prolonged (6 month) period of inactivity. This system is followed so that we have an accurate account of local active BDSM'ers.

    2. The Facilitators (Owners) and Moderators have opinions - not "chips on shoulders" - make no mistake that this is a lifestyle populated by big egos - on KT all opinions (whether agreed to or not) are valid. While there has been much robust debate and views to which the Facilitators and Moderators do not always subscribe, not a single member has EVER been banned from the site. Even when PERSONALLY attacked and provoked, Facilitators and Moderators have not banned a member. This cannot be said of all local sites.

    3. Of course KT posts valuable articles from other lifestyle websites (with permission) - We are not arrogant enough to believe we know it all......

    4. Advertising on the site is free whether it be for a BDSM based business, someone wanting to sell something ('samlls adverts' for lack of a better word), services, private parties, etc. There is not another local site offering this kind of service. The norm for other local sites is to demand 10% of any takings from any kind of function (BDSM orientated or not) which is advertised on the site.

    5. Finally, KT does not see itself as a rival to any site or sites - it is a facilitation site for local BDSM'ers to use as they see fit. As for the assumption (allegation?) that 'new members are not easily allowed or welcomed', I would point to a forum thread dedicated to making 'newbies' more comfortable and setting them at ease when attending gatherings/parties for the first time. There is also a thread which encourages members who have a specific question to post in an anonymous forum to 'senior' (nominated) mentors.

Does this sound like a site which discourages new members?

    Let's be Fair
I'm a member of both sites which is not surprising considering that both are almost identical in their objectives.

In fact, the majority of members on kinxtontown are also members of collarme.

If one site was clearly inferior and more unpleasant than the other, then this would certainly not be the case.

However, the very best way for you to decide is to check both out for yourself. It would be foolish to feel that you can only choose one before even getting to know them.

W/we thank you for Y/your input - W/we have submitted Y/your comments to O/our members for their comments and review.

It is interesting, however to note, that Telekinesis neither details H/his/H/her BDSM interest or experience or what H/he/S/she used as a measurement tool for the review - W/we would welcome this information.

Also, Telekinesis is not a registered member on KinxtonTown, and would need to be to gain access to O/our Forums and other detailed site content.

The site is well constructed and easy to navigate. There are not many members, but those that are there seem to all be in current friendship circles. As a result new members are not easily allowed or welcomed.

Unfortunately the core group of owners and moderators seem to have huge chips on their shoulders, and while they maintain that they are "open and welcome everyone's viewpoint" the site is used as a launchpad for attack on anyone not agreeing with them. The owners only seem to intervene once real damage has been done.

On interviewing some members, many will not become involved in a discussion for fear of being ostracized from the site.

There seems to be a core group that does not allow anyone from other sites on, attacking in a personal manner, all which is condoned by the site owner. All in all, a pretty scary group of people that equate BDSM with vicious personalities, and a severe lack of anything constructive going on there. Forums are mostly articles copied and pasted from better sites, or members /owners attacking each other.
